It was the first time Indurain won, so the Spaniards were pretty psyched. (Read: drunk.) Great, great event.

And Waldo, it is a real commitment to watch it all. I sorta have grazed a bit this year. No huge drama like those great Lance-Jan fights in the mountains. That was edge-of-the-seat stuff.

It’s a real time commitment watching every stage, but I think it’s been worth it, if for no other reason than to learn who these guys are. With the top (familiar) guys out of the running, it’s been interesting so far.

Not quite the same without Armstrong but it is hard not to get caught up in the drama regardless of who is leading the climb. Landis did a great job. Hincapie struggled a bit (he would be my sentimental favorite to win but it isn’t going to happen this year).

I hope one day to get to France to see the spectacle for myself. That must have been a fantastic experience. When I was a teenager my dream was to get there riding for Team 7-11…
